There was no Blue Steel as Gisele Bündchen made her way across the Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro during the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympic Games Friday night. The supermodel couldn’t contain her smile.
Brazilian Bündchen, 36, announced in March 2015 that she was finished rocking the runway, but the Olympics beckoned.
As she strutted across the LED stage, rocking a glittery dress with a high slit that showed off her famous pins, it was quite clear from the look on her face that the experience was an emotional one. Daniel Jobim’s live rendition of “The Girl from Ipanema” surely contributed to the joyful moment.
Bündchen’s fun didn’t stop there. A few minutes after she completed her walk, she was shown dancing with fellow performers as the Ceremony took on a Carnival atmosphere.
